Nourishing Families, One Bag at a Time
Behind every bundle of vegetables delivered to a family in need is a story of compassion, teamwork, and community spirit. Our Vegetables Distribution Program, part of the Community Feeding initiative by volunteers under PKDM, reflects the power of kindness and coordination in fighting food insecurity.
Where It All Begins
It starts around 3 pm at the Selayang Wholesale Market, where generous vegetable distributors donates unsold but perfectly edible produce. But that’s not all, we are also regularly blessed by other kind-hearted donors, including sometimes bakery shop that shares bread and pastries, and fruit sellers. These gifts help us build a more wholesome and nutritious distribution for families. This act of giving not only prevents food waste but channels healthy food into homes that need it most.
The Volunteer Chain in Action
Once the donations are received, our volunteers from PKDM step in. With sleeves rolled up and hearts ready to serve, they:
PKDM volunteers go to Selayang Whole Market to collect vegetables and fruits
Wholesale Vegetable and Fruit Distributors donate vegetables and fruits to PKDM
PKDM volunteers collect the vegetables and fruits and transport them to the location for distribution
PKDM Volunteers segregate the vegetables and fruits and arranges them for distribution
Residents queue up to collect the donated vegetables and fruits to supplement their food supply

Each step involves people who willingly give their time and energy to make someone else's day better whether under a roof on good days, or most often outdoors, facing the hot sun or unexpected rain. Their commitment remains unwavering, rain or shine.

Reaching the Community
We serve families living in low-cost housing flats in Sentul, Batu Caves and Selayang area.
These communities face challenges such as unemployment, single-parent households, financial strain, and caring for elderly or sick parents. By receiving a regular supply of fresh vegetables, bread, and fruits, families not only improve their nutrition but also feel supported, cared for, and remembered during difficult times.
Why It Matters
This program is more than food, it’s a symbol of hope, dignity, and community support. A simple food pack means a mother can cook a meal for her children, elderly residents can eat something healthy, and a family spends a little less on groceries this week.
Be Part of the Journey
Whether you're a business that can donate produce or baked goods, a company or corporate group that would like to contribute financially, a volunteer who wants to lend a hand, or a donor who believes in practical compassion, you are welcome. Together, we’re building more than meals; we’re building a caring society.
