Our Story

Pertubuhan Kebajikan Destiny Metro (PKDM) is a registered Non Governmental Organization (NGO) under the Registrar of Societies Malaysia. It is dedicated to addressing poverty, uplifting the lives of marginalized communities, reaches out to the homeless and the poor, offering relief, hope, opportunities for a better future through various community transformation initiatives.

Key Objectives of PKDM
Relief of Poverty and Basic Needs
PKDM delivers social relief by offering grants, essential food, and services to those in need. These efforts include the distribution of food, hygiene items, and daily necessities to
vulnerable individuals and communities, ensuring that no one is left behind in their most pressing times of need.

Education, Training, and Economic Empowerment
Recognizing that education and skills are critical to escaping poverty, PKDM provides access to educational resources, life skills training, and vocational programs. These initiatives are designed to enhance individuals’ economic well being and provide them with the means to generate sustainable income, fostering long term s elf sufficiency.

PKDM’s efforts are made possible through the support of volunteers, donors, and community partners who share the vision of a more just and compassionate society. Whether through contributions, partnerships, or volunteer work, every effort counts in transforming lives and building stro nger communities through our 5 core programs Food Bank, Vegetable Distribution, School Meals, Community Education, and Blood Donation

Food Bank Program
Launched over a decade ago with the humble beginning of supporting just 8 needy families, the Food Bank Program has since grown to impact thousands of lives. Currently, it provides monthly assistance to 80 families, offering a consistent supply of essential dry food items and food vouchers.   The program prioritizes B40 families, with special attention given to widows, single parents, and the elderly and ill-health. It is more than just food assistance - our mission is community transformation. In addition to monthly provisions, we actively support families in:

  • Securing employment opportunities

  • Applying for college or vocational training

  • Accessing welfare assistance

  • Providing school essentials such as uniforms

  • Supplying milk powder, diapers, and other critical needs

To deepen engagement and promote holistic well-being, the program also organizes Educational and Health Carnivals to connect with families, encourage learning, and raise health awareness.

Vegetable Distribution Program
Initiated 8 years ago, the Vegetable Distribution Program complements the Food Bank initiative by addressing fresh food needs. Every month, fruits and vegetables are collected from the Selayang Wholesale Market and distributed to residents in low-cost flats.

Recognizing the importance of early childhood stimulation, the program also introduces interactive games for children living in these communities. These activities are designed to foster creative thinking and improve English language skills, contributing to the cognitive and educational development of the younger generation.

School Meal Program
The School Meal Program commenced on 10th March 2025 with the primary objective of supporting underprivileged students from low-income families by providing them with nutritious daily meals. This initiative is currently running at a school in Kuala Lumpur and benefits a total of 30 students - 15 from morning session and 15 from afternoon session.

Every meal provides a balance combination of rice or noodles with meat, a vegetable and a fruit, all prepared to ensure students receive the essential nutrients needed for their growth and academic performance. The cost of each meal is RM8.

The dedication of the teachers in running the program has been instrumental in the early success of the program. And the positive impact of the program has led to numerous request in expanding the number of beneficiaries. By increasing support, we can ensure that even more students from disadvantaged backgrounds have access to the nourishment vital to their health, concentration and overall well-being.

Community Education Program
In an effort to uplift underprivileged communities, PKDM has launched a Community Education Program with the vision of creating sustainable, long-term economic transformation through quality education.

Focused on the Putri Laksamana flats in Batu Caves, the mission of the program aims to break the cycle of poverty by starting with the most critical group — primary-level children. Recognizing education as the most powerful tool for change, the initiative seeks to equip young minds with the knowledge and skills needed to shape a brighter future.

The goal of the program is to foster a love for learning among these children using creative, engaging, and fun teaching methods. By making education enjoyable and accessible, the initiative hopes to nurture curiosity, boost confidence, and build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

In its initial phase, the program will focus on English language education, with plans to expand to Bahasa Malaysia and Mathematics in the near future. Classes are conducted once a week for 90 minutes, providing consistent yet manageable exposure to learning that complements their formal schooling.

PKDM is committed to community empowerment through education, paving the way for meaningful change, one child at a time. By investing in the education of underprivileged youth, the program aims to unlock their potential and create ripple effects that will benefit families and communities for generations to come.

Blood Donation Program.
The primary goal of the Blood Donation Program is to support the National Blood Bank by bolstering the blood supply and raising public awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation. It provides a platform to encourage individuals to contribute meaningfully to the community through life-saving donations.

Organized as a yearly event, it features a well-structured program designed to ensure safety, education, and appreciation for all participants. Each donor underwent pre-donation health screenings to confirm eligibility and ensure the safety of the blood supply.

Past programs have successfully collected a substantial number of blood units, all of which were delivered to the National Blood Bank to assist hospitals and patients in need. Beyond the collection of blood, the program stood out as a meaningful and impactful event in strengthening community engagement.

In light of its success, PKDM plans to continue organizing blood donation programs on an annual basis, with the vision of increasing participation and saving even more lives in the years to come.
