A Journey of Hope and Progress

When the pandemic hit, many families struggled to keep food on the table. For this family, COVID-19 brought countless challenges. Jobs were lost, income dried up, and survival became a daily worry.

In those uncertain days, PKDM’s Food Bank stepped in by providing monthly food packs that gave the family some breathing room and hope to carry on. But food alone wasn’t enough. The family needed a way to rebuild income and stability.

With encouragement and support from our volunteers, the mother started a small nasi lemak stall right in the middle of the pandemic. Every pack of rice sold was a step toward rebuilding her family’s resilience and strength. Meanwhile, her son dreamed of learning skills that could help lift the family out of hardship. Through help made possible by PKDM, he enrolled at VTAR Institute under a scholarship, turning that hope into a reality.

Today, he has graduated and is gaining valuable experience through an internship. A proud milestone for a family that once feared for their future. Behind every meal packed and every scholarship opened is a bigger story: a story of families rediscovering hope, self-reliance, and brighter tomorrows even in the hardest times.
